Ear Acupuncture
Low cost (unwaged £3)
Drop-in.
The sessions are run by Pathways To Health, a community
voluntary sector project offering a high quality, low cost ear acupuncture
service to people with drug and alcohol related problems and those experiencing
mental health and emotional problems.
Ear acupuncture involves the client sitting comfortably
in a chair in a room with others who are also receiving treatment.
Five sterile acupuncture needles are inserted into points on the outside
of each ear, a procedure which is generally painless. Clients then
sit for approximately 45 minutes in an atmosphere of quiet and calm.
This enables people to experience a deep relaxation and sense of ease in
themselves.
This treatment was originally pioneered as a treatment
specifically for drug and alcohol dependency Subsequent research
shows that the treatment is also beneficial in alleviating many symptoms
associated with mental health disorders such as anxiety, restlessness,
apathy and insomnia.
Pathways to Health are committed to making this
service available to people who would not otherwise be in a position to
benefit from a holistic approach to their health care.
The benefits of the treatment include a reduction
in stress and anxiety levels together with noticeable improvements in energy
levels, appetite and sleep patterns. It can also help significantly
reduce cravings in those people dealing with substance dependency and addictions.
Ring 01273 720200 for more details.
